Adams & Martin Group is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate with 1+ years of experience for a top law firm offering extensive courtroom experience and hands-on litigation exposure. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is eager to appear in court regularly and gain broad experience across all aspects of contested civil litigation.
In this role, the associate will appear in court a minimum of three days per week and will be responsible for managing a contested litigation caseload from inception through resolution. Duties include reviewing new claims placed with the firm to ensure compliance with client directives and legal requirements, reviewing and approving pleadings prior to filing, and occasionally drafting motions and responsive pleadings in contested matters. The associate will argue motions, conduct trials and arbitrations, and participate actively in all stages of the litigation process.
Additional responsibilities include managing written and telephonic communication with opposing counsel, preparing and responding to discovery, and overseeing counterclaims on behalf of clients. This position provides significant exposure to court procedures, litigation strategy, internal controls, and firm and client policies. Attorneys in this role work closely with colleagues and leadership and are well positioned to develop strong courtroom skills.
This position has no billable hour requirement.
Qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree and active admission to the Indiana Bar. Prior civil litigation or courtroom experience is preferred, though motivated junior attorneys with strong advocacy skills are encouraged to apply.
